Gunnison County, Colorado
Tucked among ancient pines at the edge of Gunnison County, Lost Lake Campground is where the mountains hold you a little closer, and every night feels like the first time you've ever slept under stars.
About Us
Lost Lake Campground isn't on every map — and that's exactly how we like it. Nestled deep within Gunnison County's pine-covered ridges, our campground sits where the forest opens into a quiet alpine basin, and the only schedule that matters is the one written by the sun.
Whether you arrive in a tent, an RV, or a cabin perched at the tree line, you'll find the same thing waiting: stillness so complete it feels like the land itself is breathing with you.
Our Cabin
Our cabin sits at the highest point on the property — a hand-hewn structure with floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the ridge like a living painting. Inside, it's all warmth: cedar floors, a stone fireplace, and linens that have never known city dust.
Two bedrooms, a full kitchen, and a great room that opens to a wraparound deck. The fireplace is the heart of the cabin — and the reason you'll want to stay in.
Morning gold pours through the eastern windows. Evening blue settles over the western ridge. The cabin doesn't just face the mountains — it changes with them, hour to hour.
A quarter-mile walk from the nearest campsite, the cabin offers solitude without isolation. You're alone with the forest — and whoever you brought with you.
The Grounds
We don't do crowded rows or shared walls. Each of our campsites is positioned to catch the light — some facing the lake, others nestled in a grove of lodgepole pine, all with room to spread out and make the morning yours.
Fire rings, picnic tables, and access to clean restroom facilities are standard. For those who prefer to rough it a touch more, backcountry access points dot the perimeter — your next trailhead is already waiting.

Surroundings
Gunnison County is one of Colorado's most untamed stretches of high country. From Lost Lake, you're minutes from trails, rivers, and peaks that most visitors never find.
High-country trails above treeline with views that stretch for days. Everything from gentle forest walks to summit pushes.
The Gunnison and Taylor Rivers offer everything from peaceful float trips to Class III rapids, just a short drive away.
September turns the county into gold. Our campground is one of the best places to watch the aspen turn from your fire circle.
No light pollution, just the Milky Way arcing overhead. Bring a blanket and a telescope — or just your eyes.
Snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and the quietest winters you'll ever know. Our site stays open through the cold months.
Elk, deer, eagles, and the occasional bear — all part of the neighborhood. Keep your camp tidy and watch from a distance.
Guest Stories
"We've camped all over Colorado, and nothing compares to the silence here. Woke up to elk in the meadow and didn't want to leave for three days."
M. Torres
Denver, CO
"The cabin is exactly what you hope for when you imagine a mountain retreat. We spent two days just reading by the fire and watching the light change on the ridge."
S. Nakamura
Boulder, CO
"Brought the kids for their first real camping trip. They didn't touch their phones once. That alone is worth the drive from the city."
J. Whitfield
Albuquerque, NM
Reserve your site or book the cabin — the lake doesn't wait, and neither should you.
